The Rabbit Guitar

Here’s what the rabbit guitar sounds like without all of that distortion. A friend from back in the day SF 90′s, Chris Hughes, made this guitar for me after seeing me play in the Frozen Chicken Patties and Lucy Stoners, deciding that he could do better than the cheapo Yamaha I played. He took woodworking at City College over and over in order to use their wood shop tools; back then you could take a class for like 40 bucks so it was a great deal. It’s supposed to kind of resemble a Rickenbacker but it’s heavy as hell because he couldn’t hollow out the body (I think you’d need special tools or skills for that). Chris hand-carved the pearl inlays on the fret and the pearl rabbit on the headstock is copied from a tattoo I drew when I first moved out here. The neck pickup is a real vintage Gibson P90 we found at a guitar show at Cow Palace and it sounds really sweet. It’s probably the most expensive part of the guitar at 200 dollars. I didn’t realize just how nice it sounded until more recently when I started using it by itself and turned off the bridge pickup which is also a Gibson P90 but more recently made. This song also features my electric 12 string guitar which I’ll get to later and beats by Marcos Soriano.
